Richmond Policies & Procedures

Please review ACAC policies and procedures:

Youth

Children using ACAC at any time, unless they are registered for one of our many special youth programs or events or have paid the appropriate guest fee, must be members of the club. Children of members who are not members themselves must pay appropriate guest fees and adhere to all youth policies.

Youth Membership Options: Young adults 14 to 17 years old may join ACAC as individuals with the signature of a parent or legal guardian, or be included in a family membership. Children 13 and younger must be part of a family membership. Children 13 and younger must be part of a family membership.

Fitness

  • ages 4-11
    • Not allowed on the Fitness Floor – *Go Green
  • age 11-12
    • May begin to use fitness equipment with parent after orientation with a fitness specialist.
  • ages 13-17
    • May use equipment after a training session with a fitness specialist. Youth 13-17 may work out without parents present

Basketball Court

  • ages 4-11
    • During family time, may use the b-ball court and the track with parent or guardian
  • age 12
    • Allowed on the b-ball court and on the track. Parent must be on premises
  • ages 13-17
    • May use the Club without a parent present

Tennis

  • ages 6 & under
    • Must be supervised by an adult at all times UNLESS enrolled in a program
  • ages 7-9
    • Must be supervised by an adult UNLESS enrolled in a program
  • ages 10 & above
    • Do not have to be supervised but must check in at the Tennis Desk

Aquatics Indoor

  • ages 6 & under
    • Must be supervised by an adult if they cannot stand with head above 4 feet of water
  • ages 7-12
    • Must be accompanied by an adult if they cannot stand with head above 4 feet of water
  • ages 13 & above
    • May use the club without a parent present

Aquatics Outdoor

  • ages 6 & under
    • Must be supervised by an adult at all times
  • age 7-9
    • Responsible adult must be at the waterpark
  • ages 10 & above
    • Allowed in outdoor pool area without adult supervision

Kids Zone and Adventure Zone

  • ages 8 Wks to 5 yrs
    • Kidz Zone: Maximum stay is 2 hours and 15 minutes. Must be signed in and out.
  • ages 6-12
    • Adventure Zone: Maximum stay is 2 hours and 15 minutes. Must be signed in and out.

Locker Rooms

  • ages 3 & under
    • Requires Parental supervision at all times. May be of opposite sex
  • ages 4-12
    • Requires Parental supervision at all times. Must be in same sex locker room
  • ages 13 & above
    • No Parental supervision necessary

Young Guests

  • ages 12 & under
    • Must be accompanied by an adult at all time
  • ages under 18
    • All guests under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian
  • Fees
    • May only use the club when accompanied by an ACAC member.
    • $8 for youth under 14; $12 for youth 14-17

Family Time: ACAC offers family time on the basketball court and on the indoor walk/jog track. Children who are included in a family membership may take advantage of family time as part of their membership. Children of members who are not members themselves must pay appropriate guest fees and adhere to our policy for young guests.

FAMILY TIME RESTRICTIONS:

  • Basketball Court: Children ages 4 to 11 may use the courts during family time. Children must be supervised by a parent.
  • Track: Children ages 4 to 11 may use the track during family time. Parents must supervise children on the track at all times. Please yield to adult walkers and runners.

Please note that programs and classes take priority over all family times.

FULL COURT PICK-UP BASKETBALL GAMES* are permitted on the following days/times:

  • Wednesday: 7:00-10:00pm**
  • Saturday: 7:00-10:00am
  • Sunday: 5:00-8:00pm**
    *Must be 17 years of age or older
    **During off-basketball league dates only

Definitions:
Supervised: Parent must be in same area with child.
Accompanied: Parent may be in another area of club (exception: if child is at the waterpark, parent must be at the waterpark).
*Go Green: 10 & 11 year olds may begin to use cardio equipment with parent after an orientation with an ACAC Fitness Specialist (they will receive a green bracelet)


Aquatics

Indoor Pool Policies

  • Please shower before entering the pool.
  • Please use appropriate swim attire when using the pools. No cut-offs will be allowed and clothes that have been used to workout in will not be allowed in the pools.
  • There is no diving in any of the pools unless under the direct supervision of a certified swim lesson instructor or swim team coach. All other entries must be made feet first and facing the pool. Diving off the bulkhead is NOT allowed expect during supervised activities.
  • No spitting or spouting of water.
  • Flotation devices are not allowed unless they are certified by the US Coast Guard. Parents must be within an arm´s reach of their child when they are using a floatation device.
  • Swim diapers are required for children not completely toilet trained. Bathing suits must be worn over a swim diaper.
  • Instructions by the lifeguards must be obeyed at all times.
  • Starting blocks are for use during organized activities ONLY.
  • Kickboards, pull buoys; aerobic equipment, etc. may only be used for structured activities or lap swimming.
  • Swimming and playing under the bulkhead is NOT permitted UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
  • Running, horseplay, dunking or any other unsafe behavior is NOT permitted.
  • Water pistols, boats and other toys are NOT permitted in the pool. Only soft toys are allowed in  pools.
  • Throwing balls or other objects in the pool is not permitted.
  • During summer months a safety break will occur the last 10 minutes of every hour. Children under the age of 16 will be asked to rest for 10 minutes.
  • ACAC is a family oriented facility; therefore we have zero tolerance for improper behavior, profanity, intoxication.
  • Smoking is not permitted on the ACAC property.

Lap Lane Policies

  • Please share a lane during busy times. Two or more swimmers can share a lane by circle swimming or side by side swimming.
  • Adults 16 and older have priority to lap lanes.
  • Lap lanes can be used for aqua walking, aqua jogging, and lap swimming.
  • If sharing lane please communicate with swimmer before entering the lane.
  • Lap swimmers can share a lane with a swim instructor during a lesson.
  • Parents are permitted to share a lane with a child.
  • Lap lanes will be limited during scheduled programs and water aerobics. Please check pool schedule for availability of lap lanes.
  • Crossing over, sitting and hanging on lap lanes is NOT permitted.

Inclement Weather Policies

  • Pools will be cleared for 15 minutes at the sound of thunder.
  • At the sight of lightening the aquatic facility will be evacuated and will remain closed for 20 minutes from the last sighting of lightening or sound of thunder.

Waterslide Policies

  • For your safety and enjoyment you need to be at least 48″ tall or are able to swim one length of the slide pool against the current to use the slides.
  • Swimsuits without metal straps or buckles are the only acceptable apparel for sliding. Cut off jeans are not allowed.
  • Only one rider is allowed on the slide at a time. Doubles, trains or chains are not permitted.
  • Please enter the slide in a seated position.
  • Please wait for the lifeguard´s starting instructions before riding.
  • You may ride the slide feet first only, in either a seated or lying down position.
  • Please keep your arms and feet inside the flume.
  • Stopping on the slide is not permitted.
  • Tubes, life jackets, sunglasses and goggles are not permitted on the slide.
  • Please exit the splashdown pool area immediately.
  • Please form a waiting line on the pool deck, not on the slide stairway.
  • There is no swimming in the slide landing area.
  • Parents are NOT allowed to catch their children as they come down the slide.

Youth Policy Indoor Aquatics

  • 6 and under- Must be supervised by an adult if they cannot stand with head above 4 feet of water.
  • 7-12- Must be accompanied by an adult if they cannot stand with head above 4 feet of water.
  • 13 and above- Allowed in indoor pool without adult supervision.

Outdoor Aquatics

  • 6 and under- Must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • 7-9- Must be accompanied by and adult.
  • 10 and above- Allowed in OUTDOOR pool area without supervision.

  • The indoor and outdoor pool is shared by lap swimmers, swim teams, exercise class participants, program participants, and members engaging in free and fun swim.
  • A monthly schedule of specific activities is posted on the calendar near the Aquatics office.
  • Current and upcoming programs are posted on the aquatic calendar located at the exit of each locker room.
  • A hourly schedule of events of each pool is available for members at the aquatics office and online.

 


Swim Team

Equipment Needed:

  • Swim Goggles
  • Swim Suits (racing suits preferred)
  • Black or blue swim suit or ACAC team suit for all meets.
  • Team shirts, suits, and other items will be available.
  • Please be on time. This is disruptive to the others and to the workouts in progress.

If leaving early please notify the coach prior to the start of practice.

If your swimmer will be out of practice for an extended period of time, have unexpected absences, or any injuries that require special consideration please discuss these with the coach prior to the start of practice/season.

Proper facility behavior is a must.  No horseplay in the locker rooms, on the pool deck, in the facility, etc.

Come to practice ready to learn and work hard!

Please have your children go to the bathroom before practice.

Disruptive behavior will not be allowed. Workouts will vary and will challenge swimmers.

All belongings, clothes, shoes, backpacks, etc should be kept in a swim bag on the pool deck.

When in the locker rooms please be considerate of other members.

Parents are asked to please allow the coaching staff to conduct practice.  Any concerns need to be taken to the coach either before or after practice.

Please feel free to address any questions and suggestions to the coaches and staff before or after practice. It is disruptive to the flow of the workout to interrupt the coaches and staff during practice.  You can also direct any questions or concerns via phone or e-mail.  We have an open door policy and are hear to listen!

If any of the above becomes an issue, the swimmer will first be spoken to individually by the coach and following that the parent will be notified by the coach for some assistance regarding the situation.  If the behavior/issue continues the information will be passed to the Aquatics Director for further attention.


Kids Zone

General Policies:

  • Kidz Zone ages 8 weeks to 5 years
  • Adventure Zone ages 6 to 12 years
  • Maximum usage per day is 2 hrs & 15 mins.
  • Parents remain on ACAC grounds.
  • Check in and out required for all children
  • If paged, parents report to Kidz Zone promptly
  • Fees may be imposed and/or access denied for exceeding usage or extending care after hours

Parents help by:

  • Feeding children before dropping off
  • Leaving peanut-based products at home
  • Leaving toys/games at home
  • Labeling all belongings
  • Keeping sick children at home
  • Being attentive to club announcements
  • For younger children, insuring a recent potty trip or fresh diaper

Care philosophy:

  • Age-appropriate guidance and interaction
  • Reward positive behaviors
  • Ignore non-threatening/non-dangerous misbehavior
  • Encourage choices (“A” or “B”)
  • Intervene when behavior is threatening or dangerous
  • Put away “A” before playing with “B”
  • Interact through play, and redirection when needed
  • Encourage appropriate social behavior
  • Enact natural and logical consequences for behavior
  • Call upon or inform parents as needed

Illness:

  • Please sanitize hands with provided sanitizer before entry
  • Parents will be requested to pick up child if symptoms of illness arise
  • Any prescribed antibiotic treatment must be in place for 48 hours before attending
  • Access may be denied if contagious conditions or symptoms of serious illness are present (I.e., influenza, yellow or green nose discharge, chicken pox, measles, pinkeye, diarrhea, high fever, etc.)

    • Mon-Thurs: 7:30am-10:00pm

    • Sat & Sun: 7:30am-8:00pm

Players and guests must check-in at the tennis front desk. ACAC has the right to change court assignments to maximize play availability and court usage.

Guest Policy

  • A guest may play a maximum of 6 times/ year
  • Guest Fee with Member $12, 13 & under $8
  • Guest Cards available at the Front Desk.
  • Guests may substitute in a contract time, but they must pay the appropriate guest fee.

Dress Code

  • Tennis footwear is required on all courts.
  • Running shoes or black soled shoes are not allowed on the courts.
  • Proper tennis attire required. If you have questions about tennis attire the tennis desk will happily assist you.

Tennis Etiquette

  • No alcohol on premises except when purchased at our tennis desk. Alcohol must be kept within the vicinity of tennis.
  • Silence cellular phones in all tennis areas at all times.
  • Please enter courts when there is a stoppage in play.
  • The Tennis Desk clock is the official time.

Court Reservation Times

  • Members may reserve courts in person, online or by phone at (804) 464-0980.
  • Indoor courts may be reserved 7-days in advance
  • Outdoor courts may be reserved 2-days in advance

Indoor Tennis Court Reservation Guidelines for Non-Contract Court Time (Random Court Time)

  • Reservations may be made by calling (804) 464-0980
  • Players will be charged for their indoor court time at time play begins.
  • If you remain on a court 10-minutes past your allotted time, you will be charged for the additional time that you play.
  • To cancel, you must call the tennis desk 24-hours before court time to avoid a court fee (if you give less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full amount for your court time unless we are able to sell the court time).
  • ACAC Tennis reserves the right to move reserved times or contract times to improve your tennis experience.

Spa

Cancellation Policy: In order to fairly compensate and preserve the financial goals of our Spa Therapists and Estheticians and to provide an optimal scheduling service, ACAC will enforce a 24-hour cancellation policy for all spa appointments. Payment in full is expected for any appointment missed or canceled within 24 hours of the appointment time.

Cell phones: To ensure relaxation, we ask that cell phones and pagers be turned to silent.
Pricing: Our prices do not reflect gratuities. For your convenience, gratuity envelopes are provided at the Spa Services desk. All prices are subject to change without notice.
Medical conditions: A doctor’s note is required for anyone with a severe medical condition receiving a service.
Age requirements: Please be aware that our spa is an adult facility. We gladly service children over the age of 13; however, a parent or guardian must be present or give signed consent for any treatments given to a client under the age of 18. For safety and comfort, we ask that children not accompany you. Please see our Child Care section for information about the Kidz Zone.
General Information
Check-in: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first appointment to complete general information needed for service support. Should you arrive late, your service may be shortened to allow our therapists to remain on time for other scheduled appointments.
Gift cards: Gift Cards are available in any denomination. Gift Cards are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned. Lost or stolen Gift Cards cannot be replaced by the Spa. Gift Cards are good for one year from the time of purchase.
Child care: Child care is available in our Kidz Zone for a minimal fee. The Kidz Zone is closed between the hours of 2:00 – 3:30pm. There is a two-hour maximum per day.

Should I take a shower after working out?
We kindly suggest you rinse off before any body or skin care services.
Should I disrobe entirely for my services?
A spa robe will be provided for all facial and body treatments. To experience a relaxing treatment, we recommend you dress for your level of comfort.
